Background-signal Parameterization in In Vivo MR Spectroscopy

چکیده
This study concerns parameterization and subsequent subtraction of the fast decaying signals of macromolecules from in vivo MRS signals of tissue metabolites of interest. The parameterization is done with a State Space approach (HSVD) based on singular value decomposition. The method is tested with a simulated non-exponentially damped macromolecule signal and an exponentially damped metabolite signal. and is compared with mere omission of initial samples. Exact analytic expressions of the macromolecule signal are derived in both the time domain and the frequency domain. Keywords— SVD, State Space, MRS, macromolecules, metabolites

Background and Aims: Disc displacement is the most common temporomandibular joint disorder and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gold standard in its diagnosis. This disorder can lead to changes in signal intensity of magnetic resonance (MR). The purpose of this study was evaluation of correlation between relative signal intensity of MR images of retrodiscal tissue, superior and inferior ...

Background: Carious lesions are formed by a complex process of chemical interaction between dental enamel and its environment. They can cause cavities and pain, and are expensive to fix. It is hard to characterize in vivo as a result of environment factors and remineralization by ions in the oral cavity. Objectives: The development of a technique that gives early diagnosis which is non-invasi...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Differential diagnosis between malignant tumors and chronic infections in the masticator space remains challenging. The purpose of the study was to categorize various changes of both lesions by using single-voxel 1H-MR spectroscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-four masticator space lesions, 7 chronic infections, and 17 malignant tumors were assessed with 1H-MR spectros...
متن کاملMalignant Tumors and Chronic Infections in the Masticator Space: Preliminary Assessment with In Vivo Single-Voxel H-MR Spectroscopy
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-four masticator space lesions, 7 chronic infections, and 17 malignant tumors were assessed with H-MR spectroscopy before treatment procedures. The MR spectroscopic findings were compared with surgical and histopathologic results. Localization technique for H-MR spectroscopy was made by a point-resolved spectroscopy sequence at an echo time of 144 ms. Choline (Cho) ...
متن کاملElectronic reference for absolute quantification of brain metabolites by 1H-MRS on clinical whole-body imaging.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The electronic reference to access in vivo concentrations (ERETIC) method is a promising technique for absolute concentration quantification by brain proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS). However, in its usual form, the technique cannot be implemented in most clinical MR scanners. For this reason, we propose a new strategy for transmitting the ERETIC signal b...
